b'Alana is working to alter the way IP is viewed as separate from other classroom tasks. To help connect students in the school, she invited Gator Beaulieu, a parent of two students in IP, to perform in a school-wide concert. Gator and his daughters took the stage while he sang and played guitar for an enthusiastic student and staff audience. Alana hopes to continue to invite families to share their gifts. Plans are already forming to continue to increase peer interactions between students in a variety of ways; cross-grade buddies, the walking school bus, music and physical education activities, and music/drama therapy. By providing a leadership role for IP students in classrooms, assistive technology can be shared with all students in collaborative ways.
